Hoy las fotos van hacer tomadas en unas de estas casas ajardinadas del Albaizin llamadas Carmenes.Se trata de la casa del Pintor Belga Max Leon Moreau, que habito en esta ciudad los utimos años de su vida🌹

MAX LEON MOREAU nace en Soignies, una pequeña ciudad belga que abandona a los tres años para ir con sus padres a vivir a Bruselas. Confiesa una profunda admiración por su padre, pintor, al que contemplaba durante su trabajo, haciendo por ello de su aprendizaje un gesto inconsciente y espontáneo. Ya con doce años dibujaba con gran precisión del natural ante la mirada sorprendida del padre que veía cómo, pocos años después, su hijo Max pintaba al óleo sin haber tenido una formación académica rigurosa ni haber pisado jamás una escuela de Bellas Artes.

Una nueva etapa de su vida viene marcada por el atractivo que siente hacia Oriente. Lo pintoresco de los paisajes contemplados en fotografías y cuadros de colegas, las posibilidades pictóricas imaginadas y el deslumbramiento de lo exótico decide a Moreau a viajar, en 1.929 a Túnez. Fue un verdadero descubrimiento para el artista que, admirado ante las realidades del país, viaja hasta en cinco ocasiones durante los siguientes diez años. Allí se relaciona con un grupo de intelectuales con quienes estrenó una tragicomedia titulada Tutus. A la par expone en Bruselas, Anvers, Charleroi, Arlon y Luxemburgo, en donde tiene la ocasión de dirigir la Gran Orquesta de la Radio interpretando sus propias composiciones.

Sus obras a lo largo de su dilatada carrera han sido expuestas en Bruselas, Túnez, Francia (París, Niza, Marsella y Vichy); en los Estados Unidos en la Galería Wildenstein de Nueva York, Milwaukee, Escanaba, Gree-Bay, Palm Beach, Houston, también en Inglaterra, Bahamas, Marruecos, Argelia y España.
Ha sido Max Moreau objeto de numerosos premios y reconocimientos: Médaille de vermil de l’association Royale des Artistes Professionnels de Belgique, Médaille d’or du Conseil Européen d’Art et d’Esthetique ASBL y Fundation Deglumes entre otros.

Ha retratado a un gran número de personalidades de las que conforman la Historia de nuestro siglo y ha demostrado su sensibilidad artística en otros campos: su música ha sido interpretada por importantes orquestas en Bélgica, Portugal, Francia, Luxemburgo. Su ballet El Lobo y el cordero fue llevado a escena en Bezanco y Rennes; cuenta asimismo entre su producción con un libro de poesía; El Boticario lírico, escrito e ilustrado por el propio Moreau en 1.935 y editado con motivo de la Exposición Universal de Bruselas.

Finalmente, tras quince años de permanencia en París y muchos viajes al extranjero, la familia Moreau se asienta en Granada, ciudad que como el mismo artista reconoce:”no nos ha defraudado en los más de diez años que vivimos aquí. En ella me he hecho conocer y apreciar, creo”.

Adquirió un Carmen -el de los Geranios-, en el barrio granadino del Albayzín. Quienes le conocieron describen al pintor como un hombre bueno, afable y cariñoso, bromista a veces, con un sentido del humor muy latino, para el que la amistad y la gratitud eran las dos cualidades que hacían del alma humana, un alma noble.
